Josh Cox broke his own American 50K record yesterday after winning the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona marathon. His time for 31.2 miles was 2:43:45, three minutes faster than the record he set in 2009, and only seven seconds shy of the world record. After finishing the marathon in 2:17:32, Cox ran the last five miles of the 50K on the Arizona State University Track.
Portland's Kara Goucher placed second in the women's half marathon — her first race since the September 25 birth of her son, Colt. Her time of 1:14:02 put her just behind Madai Perez of Mexico.
