The trip takes 11 days. When to go: May to October Difficulty: Moderate Travel advisory: If possible, avoid the October trip; biting blackflies in the canyon can be voracious at that time of year. High/low points: Watching an Andean condor, the world’s largest bird, soar over this, the world’s deepest canyon. Grunting up 6,000 hot and relentless vertical feet on the last day’s trek.
