Erin Gifford is a freelance journalist who writes about outdoor adventure, road trips, and wellness travel for The Wall Street Journal, Costco Connection, AARP, Travel + Leisure, AFAR.com, The Saturday Evening Post, and Conde Nast Traveler. She has also authored three hiking guidebooks for Falcon Guides. Erin has tackled via ferrata in the Dolomites, cycled up and down mountains in Mallorca, and hiked more miles than she can count in her home state of Virginia. She’s also nearing the finish line of a 13-year quest to run a half marathon in every U.S. state, checking off state #50 in Hawaii in January 2026.
