These are the books Caroline Gleich is loving right now.
Caroline Gleich has had a big influence on the ski industry. The Patagonia-sponsored athlete was the first woman to ski all 90 lines mentioned in The Chuting Gallery, a guidebook that details the most challenging descents in Utah’s backcountry, and she appeared in Warren Miller’s 2011 and 2016 ski films. Gleich is also a committed climate-change activist and is frequently seen in Washington, D.C., advocating for the American Alpine Club and other conservation organizations. Here are five books Gleich thinks you should pick up this spring.
“This is frequently in my suitcase to provide inspiration, consultation, and strategy on how to be an effective environmental activist.”
“One of my all-time favorite books. It’s a steep-skiing guidebook to the Wasatch, and I love the dry, witty humor and sandbagged instructions.”
“I’m always looking for more inspirational stories of women in the outdoors. Jade Hameister is the youngest person to complete the Polar Hat Trick, traversing the North Pole, South Pole, and Greenland ice sheet.”
“This was written by my high school English teacher. This book challenged my notions about success and about how we teach our children and learn from our mistakes.”
“This book is my go-to whenever it’s time to train for the demands of the big mountains.”
