The 2011 Tour de France will begin with a flat stage in the Vendee region on the western coast, states sports.yahoo.com. The race will start on July 2, 2011, in the windswept region for the fourth time in the Tour's 107-year history. The area holds special memories for seven-time Tour champion LanceArmstrong—check out King of Pain from our February 2009 issue—who first wore the yellow jersey after winning the prologue at Le Puydu Fou in 1999 as he returned to racing following cancer treatment.
