The multi-week classes will address specific outdoor fitness goals.
Through a partnership with the American Council on Exercise, a fitness nonprofit, outdoor retailer REI will begin offering group exercise classes in mountain climbing, backpacking, and running, the company announced in a press release.
The program will expand the offerings of REI’s Outdoor School, which offers instruction in outdoor sports. The classes will consist of seven weeks of once-a-week, small-group training sessions and will cost $120 for REI members and $150 for the general public. REI will roll out additional training classes in cycling, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding in the coming months.
