Tom Danielson tested positive for synthetic testosterone before racing the Tour of Utah.
Cannondale Garmin cyclist Tom Danielson tested positive for synthetic testosterone, a banned PED, in an out-of-competition test, according to a post on his personal Twitter account.
The Cannondale team confirmed the result in a statement, according to Cyclingnews. He was scheduled to race the Tour of Utah, which started today, but he will be forced to sit it out while a backup sample is tested to confirm the result.
Danielson denied that he had used PEDs in a series of posts on Twitter. “I would never ever take anything like this,” he said, ”especially after everything I have gone through the last years.” He had previously admitted to blood doping during the USADA investigation of Lance Armstrong and served a six-month ban.
Danielson faces a lifetime ban if his B sample tests positive.
