This will be the first year that fat biking features as an official USA Cycling event.
Angling for a piece of one of the hottest trends in the biking industry, USA Cycling has announced the first-ever Fat Bike National Championships.
According to a press release from the organization, the first national championship will be a sweet valentine to the fastest fat biker in the land: The race will be held February 14 in Ogden, Utah, on what should be a snowy course demanding ultra-large tires.
Noticeably absent from the other 2015 national championships announced last week is a 24-hour mountain bike national championship, which has been discontinued after declining participation.
