The 2012 U.S.A. pro cycling challenge will begin in Durango, Colorado and finish in Denver, race organizers announced on Thursday, and may feature a time trial on the final of seven of stages. Reports of the 2012 course layout had leaked in the media in mid-November and again earlier this week, promting organizer Medalist Sports to confirm the route. The 2011 race, in which Levi Leipheimer defeated a collection of the world’s top racers, included a memorable 131-mile stage up and over 12,095-foot Independance Pass. Organizers plan to include that route for 2012.
