Every part of these shoes is either recycled or organic.
The textile industry is the second largest environmental polluter after oil and gas. To try and buck that trend, the designers at Saola set out to create a shoe with a tiny environmental footprint. The colorful uppers on their men's and women's shoes are made from 100-percent recycled plastic bottles and polyester, and the footbeds are made from 100-percent recycled cork. The laces are organic cotton. All that amounts to a pair of kicks that weighs less that a pound.
