A Diné River Guide’s Relationship to Water

Diné river guide Colleen Cooley grew up in Shonto, Arizona, and has always had a deep connection to the San Juan River. As one of the river’s few certified Indigenous guides, she acts as an interpreter for her community, which faces immense challenges accessing water.
