The Rio Chontalcoatlán runs underground for nearly six kilometers, carving an intricate tunnel system in the heart of the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa National Park near Guerrero, Mexico. With high-lumen headlamps as their only guides, paddlers Jared Meehan, Andrew Pollock, and Rafa Ortiz navigated a three-kilometer stretch of the Chontalcoatlán. This video of their run from River Roots makes us think that rushing into the dark rapids of subterranean rivers may be the greatest thrill-factor.
