Earlier this year, adventurer Patrick Sweeney set out to ride the iconic Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race and earn a “Big Buckle” by completing the race in under nine hours. Last year, he missed the cut off by just seven minutes. Mining Courage is an inside look at what it's like to ride in the Tour de France of mountain bike races, from the perspective of a veteran like Sweeney and his friend Ted, a rookie trying to finish under the 12-hour cutoff.
