Mostly, we hear stories about cougars as the predator. We talk about what you should do if you encounter one. We talk about how to defend yourself. In this video, however, a cougar is the unintended target of a trap set for bobcats and coyotes in the Pine Valley Mountains of Utah. Using devices known as catch pulls, Mark Ekins of the Division of Wildlife Resources works with the trapper to release the cougar's paw. With trapping of animals on the rise, Outside produced a video on how to safely open a trap.
