The story of Maya Gabeira’s recovery from a major wipeout at Nazare in 2013 is truly inspiring. This Spring, filmmaker Gordon Wong and his team from lululemon met up with the big wave surfer in Hawaii to talk about her perserverance during recovery and courage to try the seemingly impossible. They found that Gabeira brings her philosophy of living in the moment everywhere she goes – whether she’s dropping in on a massive swell or just heading out on a hike.
