Dr. Sylvia Earle's Mission Blue is an initiative to “ignite public support for the protection of Hope Spots—special places that are vital to the health of the ocean—through the creation of a global network of marine protected areas to safeguard 20 percent of the ocean by 2020.” In Beyond Blue, a Mission Blue short from Kip Evans, Dr. Earle dives 1000 feet below the ocean's surface in the Deep See Submersible while off the coast of Cocos Island, Costa Rica.
