Yosemite Wilderness Ranger Jessica Rivas grew up in Hollywood, where she could not have had a more distant relationship with the outdoors. When she enrolled in UC Merced for college, she applied for the Yosemite Leadership Program. What she experienced during that summer changed the course of her life. Now Rivas spearheads youth engagement in the outdoors within Yosemite. This is the first installment of Park Champions, a series from Compass Coalition and Parks Project.
