The shoes are made of real stingray leather.
Stingray leather, popular in the 1920s and '30s, is making a comeback.
Epaulet, a men's clothing line based in New York City, recently released its Stingray Sport Trainers. The company touts the leather as “25 times more durable than cowhide,” which may be true, but hardly seems necessary for a shoe that we can’t really see scrambling up a scree field.
It also likes to promote the texture, calling it “a thrill to touch.”
No mention as to whether they’re waterproof.
